 )\nThis is a companion workshop to the presentation "Combatting Software-D
 riven Environmental Harm With Free Software"\, which will be held online o
 n Wednesday\, 16th October (see above).\n\nAt this in-person workshop\, yo
 u will learn how to install independent\, sustainable\, Free &amp\; Open S
 ource Software. It is entirely beginner friendly\, you only need to be abl
 e to turn on your computer. Please bring your own device. This can be a la
 ptop that is no longer supported by the original vendor (e.g.\, Apple\, Mi
 crosoft)\, in which case you will bring it back to life with an up-to-date
 \, secure GNU/Linux system. Or you can install GNU/Linux operating on a ne
 wer laptop so that you are able to use your device until the hardware stop
 s working\, and not until software support ends. It is also possible to ru
 n GNU/Linux alongside an existing operating system (called "dual booting")
 \, should you want to keep the original software.\n\nIMPORTANT: make a bac
 kup of any data you want to keep before the event.\n\nPresentation in Engl
 ish. Questions/discussion can be in English and German.\n\nThis event will
  take place in Berlin-Neukölln. The maximum number of participants is 20.
  You will be notified whether we can offer you a space for this event as s
 oon as possible.
